ECO-UNESCO competition Finals 2023

Bringing seven people upto the finals of the https://ecounesco.ie/young-environmentalist-awards/ national competition being held at the National Convention Center, Dublin was a logistical challenge but well worth it.

After Months of great work by all The Oceans plastic project team at Schull Community college. We successfully made it into the finals of the Eco UNESCO Competition winning the Upcycling and Reusing Marine plastic waste category. A fantastic achievement for all involved together with the pervious years team making it all possible.

On the 26th May Over 100 finalists were selected for over 40 category’s took part, it was a fabulous event for everyone who made there.

Carrigboy National School on Local Beaches

Fantastic morning out Beach cleaning with Carrigboy National school students on the 23rd May

cleaning and surveying of Beaches Near the the Tin Pub and Air India Memorial site collecting over 40kgs in a just three hours.

Brilliant to have spent time in the classroom and beaches with a great bunch of students and teachers, with a short bus ride to some wonderful beaches along the West side of Dunmanus bay.

Creating awareness and spreading Ocean literacy to the next generations!

Despite terrible weather local beaches were cleaned with 71.54kgs being logged last Thursday 23rd March 2023 with 14 students and teacher Support thanks to Cork County Council litter team and Longs Travel all collect material is sent to https://oceanconservancy.org/trash-free-seas/international-coastal-cleanup/icc/.

Cork’s St Patrick’s day Parade Awards Ceremony at Cork City Hall

We Act Campaign made up of 6 community and charity groups based in Cork City and County were the over all winners of the St Patrick’s day Parade which saw over 56.000 people visited on the day as well as online and a record turnout of over 3’800 participant’s.

Everyone was a winner on the day, and 5 groups won awards fantastic night well done everyone

We Act (The Wheel) Staff members The Oceans Plastic Project and Schull Community College Together with; Love, Care For people, Cork Counselling Services ,St Josephs Mayfield, Serve Ireland all took part in the Parade.
